Job Overview
- Develop, establish, and lead comprehensive site safety and EHS programs to ensure the highest safety standards across all construction activities.
- Implement and enforce site safety policies, SOPs, permits to work, and statutory safety procedures as per legal and company requirements.
- Conduct daily site walkthroughs and inspections across all areas including upper floors, scaffolding, cranes, hoists, lifts, and confined spaces to identify hazards proactively.
- Perform detailed risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) for all high-risk activities.
- Ensure safe execution of high-rise construction activities such as working at heights, formwork, shuttering, scaffolding, lifting operations, crane movements, and façade works.
- Oversee height safety systems including fall arrest systems, guardrails, safety nets, harnesses, lifelines, and edge protection.
- Monitor structural safety during critical construction phases such as concrete pouring, curing, and temporary structure installations.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable safety laws, labor regulations, building codes, and international best practices.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update site-specific safety plans and emergency response procedures for high-rise scenarios.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate mock drills for fire, evacuation, medical emergencies, and high-rise rescue operations.
- Ensure all fire detection, firefighting systems, emergency exits, alarms, and evacuation routes are functional and well maintained at all times.
- Enforce strict usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure regular inspection of PPE, lifting gear, scaffolding, and safety equipment.
- Conduct safety induction training for new employees, contractors, and visitors before site entry.
- Deliver regular toolbox talks, safety training sessions, and awareness programs in a clear and practical manner.
- Promote awareness on fire safety, first aid, emergency response, working at heights, and safe use of modern construction equipment.
- Train contractor workers and staff through EHS induction programs, toolbox meetings, seminars, and refresher training.
- Maintain complete EHS documentation including checklists, inspection reports, permits, incident records, training logs, and audit reports.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports to project management and senior leadership.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near-misses to identify root causes.
- Recommend, implement, and monitor corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence of incidents.
- Address safety violations immediately and recommend appropriate corrective or disciplinary actions as per company policy.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with site safety rules, approved safety plans, and certification requirements.
- Review and approve safety plans submitted by subcontractors and conduct regular safety audits and spot checks.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Coordinate with government authorities and auditors during safety inspections, audits, and statutory compliance checks.
- Oversee first aid arrangements on site and ensure availability of trained first aiders and medical facilities.
- Ensure proper housekeeping standards to maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free premium construction site.
- Monitor environmental and sustainability-related safety practices including waste segregation, dust control, noise management, and safe handling of green materials.
- Ensure that sustainable construction practices and new technologies are implemented without compromising safety.
- Act as the primary safety point of contact for management and high-profile stakeholders during site visits.
- Promote a strong safety culture by encouraging reporting of unsafe conditions and reinforcing a zero-harm mindset.
- Support continuous improvement in safety performance aligned with premium quality, comfort, harmony, and brand standards.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety standards and high-rise specific safety practices.
- Proven expertise in working at heights, fall protection systems, rope access, edge protection, and vertical safety management for 30+ floor structures.
- Hands-on experience with scaffolding, formwork, shuttering, cradle systems, and perimeter safety screens.
- In-depth understanding of crane, rigging, lifting operations, load charts, wind limitations, and signal coordination.
- Ability to conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Strong capability in identifying fall, façade, crane, electrical, confined-space, and design-driven hazards on architect-led projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of statutory safety laws and standards including NBC 2016, BOCW Act, Building Rules, OSHA 1926, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
- Sound understanding of fire and life safety systems, temporary standpipes, evacuation modeling, and high-rise rescue protocols.
- Certified competence in emergency response, fire safety, first aid, and incident management.
- Expertise in accident investigation, root cause analysis, near-miss reporting, and corrective action implementation.
- Strong command over PPE standards, inspection, selection, enforcement, and compliance monitoring.
- Ability to develop, maintain, audit, and present clear safety documentation, inspection logs, and compliance reports.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver concise, bilingual safety inductions and toolbox talks.
- Capability to explain safety requirements clearly to large and diverse workforces using simple, practical language.
- Leadership and influencing skills to stop unsafe work at any level while maintaining positive site relationships.
- Strong observation, attention to detail, and situational awareness in fast-paced, high-risk environments.
- Ability to manage multiple site activities and prioritize safety without disrupting construction schedules.
- Experience in coordinating with engineers, architects, subcontractors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Proficiency in subcontractor safety management, including plan approvals, certification verification, and spot audits.
- Familiarity with safety audits, government inspections, and regulatory compliance processes.
- Knowledge of sustainable and green construction safety practices, including safe handling of low-VOC materials and waste management.
- Understanding of green building standards such as LEED, IGBC, WELL, or equivalent sustainability frameworks.
- Tech-savvy approach to safety using digital tools such as MS Excel, MS Word, mobile inspection apps, BIM safety overlays, drones, and AI hazard detection systems.
- Professional, client-focused communication skills suitable for HNI stakeholders and premium project environments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and structured safety systems.
