Job Overview
The HVAC Refrigeration Service Engineer will be responsible for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and technical support of industrial refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, food processing machinery, and customized cooling solutions. The role requires strong technical coordination with customers and internal teams to ensure efficient system performance, minimum downtime, and customer satisfaction across the Dairy, Ice Cream, Food & Beverage, Food Processing, and Cold Chain sectors. The engineer will be required to travel extensively across India and, when needed, overseas for installation, servicing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, erect, commission, and start up industrial refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, food processing machinery, and customized cooling solutions at customer sites.
- Conduct pre-commissioning checks, pressure testing, system charging, calibration, and performance validation.
- Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance to ensure reliable equipment performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, automation, PLC, and control system faults.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective actions to minimize equipment downtime.
- Inspect, service, and maintain compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves, pumps, cooling towers, piping, and refrigeration circuits.
- Service ammonia/Freon-based refrigeration plants, chillers, cold rooms, blast freezers, IQF systems, milk chilling systems, ice cream hardening rooms, and process cooling equipment.
- Attend emergency breakdowns and critical service calls and provide prompt technical solutions.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support and after-sales service to customers.
- Support customers across Dairy, Ice Cream, Food & Beverage, Food Processing, and Cold Chain sectors.
- Coordinate with customers, engineering, design, production, project, sales, service, and spare parts teams for smooth execution.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and OEM representatives for technical service and equipment support.
- Interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, refrigeration schematics, and technical documentation for troubleshooting and servicing.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend corrective actions and technical improvements.
- Support retrofit, modification, upgrading, and energy-efficiency improvement projects.
- Conduct equipment testing, calibration, inspection, and performance evaluation during installation and servicing.
- Train customer operators and maintenance teams on equipment operation, safety, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Explain technical issues and solutions clearly to customers and maintain strong customer relationships and satisfaction.
- Prepare service reports, commissioning reports, maintenance records, inspection checklists, and technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of breakdowns, service visits, customer feedback, and spare parts consumption.
- Provide field feedback to engineering, design, and R&D teams for product and service improvement.
- Ensure proper refrigerant handling and compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
- Ensure all service activities comply with company procedures, quality standards, SOPs, statutory requirements, and safety norms.
- Represent the company professionally at customer locations and maintain high standards of service quality and customer support.
- Travel extensively across India and, when required, overseas for installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency servicing, and customer support assignments.

- Strong technical expertise in industrial refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment, and customized cooling solutions.
- Hands-on expertise in installation, commissioning, start-up, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in Ammonia (NH₃) and Freon-based refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, and refrigeration controls.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, thermodynamics, superheat, subcooling, and system performance parameters.
- Expertise in chillers, AHUs, cold rooms, blast freezers, IQF systems, ice cream plants, milk chilling systems, and process cooling equipment.
- Knowledge of Dairy, Ice Cream, Food & Beverage, Food Processing, and Cold Chain applications and their refrigeration requirements.
- Proficiency in refrigeration piping, brazing, pressure testing, vacuuming, refrigerant charging, recovery, and leak detection.
- Strong troubleshooting skills covering mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, instrumentation, automation, and control-system faults.
- Knowledge of electrical panels, wiring diagrams, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, controllers, motor controls, and refrigeration instrumentation.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, HVAC drawings, refrigeration drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Expertise in preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance, with a focus on minimizing equipment downtime.
- Ability to conduct system testing, commissioning validation, performance checks, energy-efficiency assessments, and operational optimization.
- Strong root-cause analysis, fault diagnosis, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills for resolving complex technical issues.
- Strong customer-facing communication, technical support, operator training, and after-sales service skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with customers, service teams, installation teams, contractors, OEMs, project teams, and engineering departments.
- Willingness and readiness for extensive travel across India and overseas for installation, commissioning, servicing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and customer support.
