Plant Maintenance Engineer – WNSPME01062026

Job Overview
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and reliability of plant machinery in a multinational rubber recycling manufacturing environment. The role involves installation, servicing, and maintenance of equipment, along with quick response to breakdowns to minimize downtime. The engineer performs preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnoses faults, and implements effective technical solutions. Coordination with production teams and external vendors is essential for smooth operations. The role also requires strict adherence to safety standards and maintenance protocols, contributing to consistent performance and sustainable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and service plant machinery used in rubber recycling operations.
- Ensure proper alignment, calibration, and integration of equipment with production processes.
- Perform routine, preventive, and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Conduct inspections and condition monitoring (vibration, temperature, oil analysis) to identify potential failures.
- Attend breakdowns promptly, diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults, and restore operations with minimum downtime.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain and service key equipment such as shredders, granulators, mixers, conveyors, compressors, and other utility systems.
- Coordinate with production teams to plan maintenance activities and minimize operational disruptions.
- Liaise with external vendors, OEMs, and service providers for repairs, spares, and technical support.
- Manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance resources to ensure timely availability.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, including lockout–tagout (LOTO), and follow all maintenance protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, and equipment history.
- Monitor machine performance and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and equipment lifespan.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives such as TPM, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
- Contribute to sustainable operations by optimizing energy usage, reducing waste, and improving overall plant efficiency.
- Work towards achieving key maintenance KPIs such as uptime, MTTR, MTBF, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Assist in installation and commissioning of new machinery and production lines.
- Ensure proper documentation of SOPs and maintenance manuals for all equipment.
- Train operators and junior maintenance staff on basic troubleshooting and machine handling.
- Monitor utility systems such as air compressors, cooling systems, and electrical panels for smooth operations.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and plant safety audits.
- Implement lubrication schedules and ensure proper lubrication practices across all machinery.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in maintenance operations.
- Participate in shutdown planning and execution activities for major maintenance work.
- Continuously upgrade technical knowledge to keep up with new technologies and maintenance practices.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of plant machinery maintenance, servicing, and commissioning.
- Expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Hands-on experience with rubber recycling machinery such as shredders, granulators, mixers, conveyors, and extruders.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, automation controls, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Familiarity with condition monitoring tools such as vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis.
- Strong understanding of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
- Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Knowledge of spare parts management, inventory control, and equipment lifecycle management.
- Focus on improving equipment reliability, uptime, MTBF, MTTR, and OEE.
- Thorough understanding of safety standards, LOTO procedures, and maintenance protocols.
- Strong coordination and communication skills with teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with CMMS, maintenance software, and MS Office for reporting and documentation.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot under pressure and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Education
Any ITI / Diploma / BE / BTech / Relevant in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Related Technical Discipline with hands-on knowledge in Industrial Machinery Maintenance are preferred. Formal education or technical training in Maintenance Engineering, Industrial Equipment, or Plant Operations is an advantage. Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems is preferred. Certification or training in maintenance tools, condition monitoring, or technical troubleshooting is a plus. Practical exposure to installation, commissioning, and servicing of industrial equipment is highly valued.Exposure to PLC systems, automation, or control systems will be an added advantage. Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices is desirable. Familiarity with safety standards, industrial compliance, and maintenance protocols is preferred. Knowledge of rubber recycling, tyre processing, or heavy manufacturing industry will be given priority.
Experience
Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in Plant Maintenance, Servicing, and Troubleshooting within Manufacturing or Industrial organizations. Hands-on experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of plant machinery and equipment. Practical exposure to preventive and predictive maintenance practices to ensure high equipment uptime. Experience in attending breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and implementing effective technical solutions. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Experience in handling machinery such as shredders, granulators, mixers, conveyors, compressors, or similar industrial equipment. Exposure to PLC systems, basic automation, and control panels will be an added advantage. Experience in coordinating with production teams, maintenance staff, and external vendors for smooth operations. Ability to maintain maintenance records, reports, and equipment history documentation. Working knowledge of safety standards, LOTO procedures, and industrial compliance requirements. Experience in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement practices. Exposure to TPM, 5S, Lean manufacturing, or similar methodologies will be an added advantage. Experience working in multi-shift operations and handling emergency breakdowns. Exposure to multinational or large-scale manufacturing environments will be preferred. Rubber recycling, tyre processing, or heavy manufacturing industry experience will be given priority.
