Job Overview
- Set up and operate CNC machines (VMC, HMC, or Turning Centers) to produce precision components as per specifications and engineering drawings.
- Accurately read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations and tolerances.
- Load and calibrate CNC programs into the control unit; perform minor program edits (G-code/M-code) to optimize cycle times, account for tool wear, and maintain required tolerances.
- Select, install, and adjust tools, inserts, and fixtures; monitor tool wear and replace as needed to ensure consistent part quality.
- Conduct precise machine setup, alignment, and calibration to achieve accurate machining for packaging machinery components such as molds, grippers, and precision parts.
- Perform routine inspection of parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Ensure strict adherence to blueprint specifications, dimensional tolerances, and quality standards, especially for high-speed PET bottling machinery components.
- Identify and report non-conforming parts or deviations, collaborating with engineering and quality teams for corrective actions.
- Perform preventive maintenance and daily cleaning of CNC machines, ensuring smooth operation, lubrication, and fluid management.
- Diagnose and resolve basic machine alarms, operational errors, or minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records, including job travelers, inspection logs, and maintenance reports.
- Follow all safety protocols and 5S standards, including proper PPE usage and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to discuss machining challenges and suggest process improvements.
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve machining accuracy.
- Manage material handling efficiently, ensuring safe loading/unloading, part storage, and proper inventory control.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Proficiency in operating CNC machines such as VMC, HMC, and Turning Centers.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming fundamentals (G-code / M-code) with ability to perform minor edits and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi controllers.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software for basic program generation and part simulation.
- Skilled in machine setup, calibration, and tool offset adjustments for precision machining.
- Expertise in tool selection, installation, maintenance, and geometry for different materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and food-grade plastics.
- In-depth understanding of cutting parameters, feeds, and speeds to optimize machining efficiency.
- Familiarity with fixture and jig setup for holding complex, high-tolerance components.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting for resolving minor machine issues.
- Experience in routine preventive maintenance (TPM) to maintain machine accuracy and longevity.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols accurately.
- Proficient in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Sound understanding of dimensional tolerances and quality control processes.
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to ensure process consistency.
- Skilled in defect identification, documentation, and corrective action reporting.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and related documentation requirements.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE standards, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Knowledge of machine guarding, emergency stop protocols, and general shop safety practices.
- Ability to perform daily and weekly maintenance checks, cleaning, lubrication, and fluid level monitoring.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workspace following 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Attention to detail and precision, ensuring consistent quality in tight-tolerance machining.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking for identifying and resolving machining or tooling issues.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and QA teams.
- Excellent time management and task prioritization abilities in a fast-paced production environment.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new machines, programs, and processes.
- Reliable work ethic, discipline, and commitment to production goals and operational efficiency.
Candidates with prior experience or exposure to the Packaging Machinery Industry will be given preference.
