
Job Overview
- Install, configure, test, and commission industrial chiller units at customer sites.
- Integrate chillers with CO₂ lasers, fiber lasers, CNC routers, UV printers, and other precision machines.
- Execute piping connections, water circulation setup, insulation, and temperature calibration.
- Calibrate temperature set-points, flow rates, pressure levels, and safety interlocks.
- Conduct pre-installation site surveys for space, ventilation, power, and environmental requirements.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance of chillers to ensure peak performance.
- Inspect and clean filters, condensers, evaporators, tanks, DI filters, and water quality sensors.
- Check refrigerant levels, coolant quality, pump operation, and perform descaling.
- Monitor temperature stability, flow rate, pressure, and critical operating parameters.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control-system faults.
- Resolve issues such as temperature fluctuations, low flow, alarms, pump failure, compressor faults, and refrigerant leakage.
- Test and repair PCBs, control boards, sensors, and temperature controllers.
- Replace faulty components including compressors, fans, pumps, motors, sensors, and wiring.
- Recover and recharge refrigerants (R134a, R410a, R407c) safely.
- Attend on-site breakdown calls and restore operations within SLA timelines.
- Identify root causes of failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Ensure chillers meet cooling requirements for CO₂ and fiber laser power sources.
- Coordinate with laser/CNC service teams for performance-related cooling issues.
- Maintain required cooling accuracy for laser tubes, CNC spindles, and machine components.
- Train customer operators on maintenance, water quality, alarm interpretation, and basic troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support and guidance for long-term chiller reliability.
- Act as the primary technical contact for customer chiller issues.
- Recommend upgrades to higher-capacity or smart chiller models as customer requirements grow.
- Retrofit IoT/remote monitoring modules or upgrade older control systems.
- Suggest performance improvements and provide feedback to R&D.
- Maintain accurate service reports, checklists, logbooks, and visit documentation.
- Update service records, history cards, and warranty information in CRM/ERP systems.
- Document spare-parts usage, maintenance activities, and breakdown resolutions.
- Maintain stock of essential spares like pumps, filters, motors, compressors, and PCBs.
- Coordinate with procurement for critical spare-part requirements.
- Work with technical, production, and R&D teams for escalated or design-related issues.
- Follow refrigeration, electrical, and industrial safety standards.
- Comply with LOTO procedures and use proper PPE at all times.
- Handle refrigerants safely and adhere to environmental regulations.
- Travel to customer sites frequently as per service schedules.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, vapor-compression cycles, and industrial cooling technologies.
- Expertise in compressors (scroll/reciprocating), condensers, evaporators, and expansion valves.
- Proficiency in refrigerant handling, leak testing, recovery, vacuuming, pressure testing, and charging (R134a, R410a, R407c).
- Ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related faults quickly and accurately.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, piping layouts, and service manuals.
- Hands-on experience in installation, wiring, brazing, and commissioning of industrial chiller units.
- Experience troubleshooting alarms such as high/low pressure, low flow, sensor faults, pump failure, and compressor overload.
- Strong understanding of temperature stability, flow rate, pressure levels, and cooling accuracy requirements.
- Knowledge of industrial chillers used with CO₂ lasers, fiber lasers, CNC spindles, and UV printers.
- Practical experience with DI water systems, UV lamps, resistivity meters, filtration systems, and corrosion inhibitors.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeter, clamp meter, manifold gauge, vacuum pump, leak detector, thermal camera, and IR thermometer.
- Familiarity with controllers, sensors, PCBs, relays, contactors, inverters, and microprocessor-based control systems.
- Basic understanding of PLC/HMI interfaces, Modbus/RS485 communication, and intelligent chiller control systems.
- Ability to integrate chiller safety interlocks and control signals with laser and CNC machines.
- Advanced troubleshooting capability using data analysis, logs, and root-cause isolation.
- Ability to maintain tight temperature tolerances required for high-precision laser operations.
- Strong documentation skills for service reports, checklists, maintenance logs, and warranty records.
- Experience using CRM/ERP systems for service entry, spare parts booking, and visit updates.
- Customer-focused communication and ability to explain technical issues simply.
- Ability to train operators on chiller usage, safety, and preventive maintenance.
- Strong time management and ability to work independently while meeting SLA deadlines.
- Physical fitness and willingness to travel extensively for on-site service.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices, LOTO procedures, PPE usage, and refrigerant compliance regulations.
- Team collaboration skills to coordinate with service, production, and R&D teams.
- Ability to suggest upgrades, performance improvements, and provide technical feedback for product enhancement.
- Capability to perform remote diagnostics for IoT-enabled chillers (added advantage).
Minimum 1 to 3 Years of experience in Chiller Installation and Maintenance. Hands-on experience with Industrial Chillers.
