The CNC Press Brake Machine Service Engineer is responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CNC Press Brake Machines to ensure maximum performance and uptime. Working with a pioneer in advanced machine manufacturing, the role supports high-precision technologies including CO2 Laser Machines, Fiber Laser Machines, CNC Routers, and Digital Printing Systems. The engineer plays a key role in minimizing downtime, delivering reliable technical support, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction across diverse industrial applications.
- Install, assemble, align, commission, and configure CNC Press Brake Machines at customer sites, including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, safety, and CNC control systems.
- Evaluate site readiness such as power supply, flooring, leveling, and safety compliance before installation.
- Perform precision calibration of machine axes, tooling, back gauges, and bending parameters to ensure high accuracy and repeatability.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities including inspection, lubrication, cleaning, hydraulic oil checks, filter replacement, and component health monitoring.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, servo, PLC, and CNC software-related issues to minimize machine downtime.
- Carry out corrective and breakdown maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and replacement of faulty parts to restore full machine functionality.
- Update CNC controller software and firmware to improve machine performance, reliability, and compatibility.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, ensuring quick resolution of service issues.
- Train machine operators and maintenance personnel on machine operation, CNC programming, safety procedures, tooling setup, and basic troubleshooting.
- Support application-related requirements such as bend accuracy optimization, material handling, springback control, and bending method selection.
- Maintain detailed service reports, maintenance logs, spare parts usage records, and machine performance documentation.
- Recommend spare parts and support inventory planning to ensure faster service turnaround.
- Ensure all service activities strictly follow safety standards, company quality guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Coordinate with internal engineering, application, production, R&D, and service teams for complex issue resolution and continuous improvement.
- Provide field feedback to design and R&D teams to support product enhancement and innovation in press brake and related technologies.
- Support servicing and integration of related advanced technologies including CO2 Laser Machines, Fiber Laser Machines, CNC Routers, and Digital Printing Systems when required.
- Act as a technical liaison with customers, building strong relationships through professional communication, reliability, and solution-oriented service.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC systems, automation, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of CNC Press Brake Machines and sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of press brake mechanics, ram alignment, tonnage calculation, and tooling setup.
- Expertise in hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, cylinders, pressure control, lubrication, and leak diagnosis.
- Proficiency in electrical and electronic systems such as control panels, sensors, wiring, PLCs, servo drives, and motors.
- Hands-on experience with major CNC controllers such as Delem, Cybelec, ESA, or equivalent systems.
- Ability to perform CNC parameter setting, back-gauge programming, bend sequencing, and basic G-code interpretation.
- Strong skills in machine installation, commissioning, alignment, calibration, and safety validation.
- Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues.
- Expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance practices to minimize downtime and extend machine life.
- Knowledge of bending methods including air bending, bottoming, and coining, along with springback compensation.
- Understanding of material behavior, metallurgy basics, bend allowances, K-factors, and fabrication tolerances.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics, electrical diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Skilled use of precision measurement tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, protractors, and laser alignment tools.
- Familiarity with CNC machine software, diagnostic tools, firmware updates, and remote support systems.
- Basic understanding of CAD/CAM workflows and their integration with CNC bending operations.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards, machine guarding, safety light curtains, and compliance protocols.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities under high-pressure service conditions.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to operators, customers, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Customer service mindset with the ability to train operators on machine operation, safety, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently in field environments and collaboratively with engineering, R&D, production, and service teams.
- Effective time management skills to prioritize service calls and reduce production downtime.
