- Assist in testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using standard chemical testing methods.
- Conduct physical and chemical tests such as viscosity, pH, specific gravity, solids content, dispersion quality, and colour shade matching.
- Perform incoming raw material inspection including pigments, resins, solvents, and additives by verifying Certificates of Analysis and conducting laboratory tests.
- Collect representative samples of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods for chemical and quality analysis.
- Monitor and perform in-process checks during mixing, dispersion, and grinding stages to ensure batch consistency and quality.
- Carry out detailed testing of finished products, including application properties such as flow, leveling, and drying time, as well as film properties like adhesion, hardness, gloss, and stability tests including heat and freeze-thaw.
- Perform accurate colour matching using visual evaluation and instrumental methods to meet customer and product standards.
- Visually inspect finished products for appearance, uniformity, and overall quality compliance.
- Support batch release by confirming products meet defined quality standards and assist in segregation of non-conforming materials when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results, observations, batch records, and Certificates of Analysis.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments such as spectrophotometers, viscometers, pH meters, rheometers, film applicators, and adhesion testers.
- Prepare, standardize, and handle chemical reagents and solutions used for testing activities.
- Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and internal Standard Operating Procedures.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental guidelines for safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
- Maintain laboratory inventory of chemicals, glassware, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted testing operations.
- Report deviations, abnormal results, or quality concerns to senior team members promptly.
- Assist in investigation of quality issues, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with production and research teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve product performance.
- Participate in internal and external audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate test findings, observations, and technical information clearly to relevant stakeholders.

- Skilled in visual and instrumental colour matching using spectrophotometers.
- Good understanding of coating application techniques and film property testing such as adhesion, gloss, flexibility, hardness, and drying time.
- Experience in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments including viscometers, rheometers, pH meters, gloss meters, and film applicators.
- Ability to accurately record, analyse, and interpret test data to identify deviations and quality trends.
- Strong skills in maintaining laboratory records, batch sheets, test reports, and Certificates of Analysis with clarity and accuracy.
- Familiarity with quality standards and systems including ISO, BIS, GMP, GLP, SOPs, and customer-specific quality requirements.
- Capable of supporting root cause analysis and contributing to corrective and preventive actions.
- Basic understanding of quality monitoring tools and process control techniques to ensure consistency.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices, including safe handling and disposal of chemicals.
- Ability to manage laboratory consumables and ensure timely availability of reagents and chemicals.
- Effective collaboration with production, R&D, and quality teams to resolve technical and quality issues.
- Efficient in managing multiple testing activities within defined timelines.
- Willingness to learn new techniques, adapt to changes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for reporting results and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in MS Excel and Word, with familiarity in laboratory data management systems such as LIMS.
