Job Overview
They are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Elevator Service Engineer to join their team. The role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of elevators, escalators, and lifts. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety standards to ensure smooth and reliable operation of vertical transportation systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and test elevators, escalators, lifts, and moving walkways as per technical guidelines.
- Assist in installation of new systems, assembling and wiring components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Perform daily servicing, preventive maintenance, lubrication, adjustments, and safety device checks to ensure smooth operation.
- Conduct routine inspections and safety compliance checks as per industry standards and building codes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using diagnostic tools and manuals.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as motors, cables, control panels, and door mechanisms.
- Respond promptly to breakdown calls, perform real-time problem debugging, and restore operations with minimal downtime.
- Upgrade and modernize older systems to improve performance, efficiency, and safety.
- Carry out technical inspections, adjustments, and repairs to preserve equipment integrity and adapt to operating conditions.
- Monitor machinery and equipment performance, developing preventive maintenance measures.
- Prepare timely service reports, maintenance schedules, and documentation of all inspections, repairs, and replacements.
- Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and re-order materials when required.
- Ensure proper safety procedures and cleanliness at work sites, including machine rooms and shafts.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and project teams to provide reliable service.
- Communicate effectively with building managers and customers, explaining technical issues, repair timelines, and service outcomes.
- Respond to customer complaints, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction with professional service delivery.
- Provide recommendations on new features, product improvements, and system upgrades.
- Train and guide junior technicians or helpers in installation, servicing, and safety practices.
- Attend industry workshops, conduct research, and stay updated with the latest tools, technologies, and standards.
- Deliver demonstrations or training to clients for safe and effective equipment use.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relations, sharing feedback and common issues with management for service improvements.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of elevator, escalator, and lift systems (mechanical, electrical, and electronic).
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and kinematics.
- Proficiency in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools, measuring instruments, and repair equipment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI/ASME A17.1), and compliance regulations.
- Strong troubleshooting and real-time problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with modernization and system upgrades for elevators and escalators.
- Technical reporting, documentation, and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Inventory management and spare parts handling.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to interact with clients, colleagues, and management.
- Customer service orientation with active listening and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Strong attention to detail for safety checks, inspections, and quality work.
- Physical stamina and fitness to work in shafts, heights, confined spaces, and with heavy equipment.
- Effective time management, multitasking, and ability to work under pressure.
- Team coordination and leadership ability to train and guide junior technicians/helpers.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, systems, and procedures.
- Professional attitude with the ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.
- Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills for complex issues.
- Growth mindset with continuous learning, research, and skill development.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., IUEC, NEII, or equivalent) are an added advantage.
