Job Overview
- Plan, schedule, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production activities for CO2 Laser Machines, Fiber Laser Machines, CNC Routers, Digital Printing Machines, Laser Engraving Machines, and Laser Marking Machines.
- Oversee the complete end to end manufacturing process, ensuring on time delivery while meeting quality, cost, and productivity targets.
- Manage smooth workflow across fabrication, machining, assembly, wiring, optical alignment, calibration, testing, and final inspection stages.
- Allocate and coordinate manpower, machines, tools, and materials to achieve productivity, OEE, and delivery KPIs.
- Supervise shop floor operations including mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, integration of optical, mechanical, and electronic components, and system testing.
- Design, implement, and optimize production workflows, assembly lines, machining sequences, and process layouts for laser and CNC based machinery.
- Develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures, work instructions, routing sheets, and control plans across all production stages.
- Identify production bottlenecks, reduce cycle time, minimize rework and scrap, and improve throughput using lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
- Monitor machine performance, production efficiency, rejection rates, downtime, and quality metrics, and take corrective actions as required.
- Ensure all machines meet mechanical accuracy, optical alignment, motion control, engraving, marking, and printing quality specifications before dispatch.
- Implement and monitor quality control systems, conducting in process inspections, final inspections, burn in tests, and application trials on various materials.
- Lead root cause analysis for production defects, recurring issues, field failures, and warranty cases, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate closely with design and R and D teams to support design for manufacturability, engineering changes, and smooth introduction of new products and variants.
- Support new product development, process validation, pilot builds, and production ramp up for advanced laser and CNC machines.
- Plan and coordinate installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance of production equipment, jigs, fixtures, and testing systems.
- Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, optical, CNC controller, and automation related issues to minimize downtime.
- Manage material planning, BOM control, inventory levels, and coordination with procurement and stores to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors for critical components such as laser sources, optics, motion systems, CNC controllers, and electronics, ensuring quality and availability.
- Ensure strict adherence to workplace safety norms, laser safety protocols, electrical standards, environmental regulations, 5S, and lean shop floor practices.
- Train, guide, and supervise technicians, operators, and junior engineers on machine assembly, safe handling of laser and CNC equipment, SOPs, and quality requirements.
- Analyze production data and KPIs related to yield, productivity, downtime, rejection, and costs, and prepare regular performance and improvement reports for management.
- Maintain and update all production documentation including SOPs, work instructions, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, checklists, and production records.
- Collaborate with service and application teams to capture field feedback and integrate improvements into production and design processes.
- Support customization, special configurations, and pre dispatch readiness based on customer and application specific requirements.
- Contribute to innovation initiatives by evaluating and implementing new manufacturing technologies, automation solutions, materials, and process improvements to strengthen the company’s position as a market leader.
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes for laser machines, CNC routers, and digital printing equipment.
- Hands on expertise in CO2 and fiber laser systems, including optics alignment, beam delivery, focal length setting, and calibration.
- In depth knowledge of CNC systems, motion control, G code and M code basics, servo and stepper drives, and multi axis machine accuracy.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, GD and T, BOMs, process layouts, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in CAD and CAM software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar tools.
- Experience with production planning, scheduling, capacity analysis, OEE tracking, and workflow optimization for complex machine assemblies.
- Strong understanding of quality control techniques including in process inspection, final inspection, SPC, PFMEA, and precision measurement tools.
- Hands-on experience with metrology tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, CMM, and laser measurement systems.
- Proven problem solving ability using root cause analysis tools such as 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys, and corrective and preventive action methods.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, line balancing, Six Sigma, and waste reduction techniques.
- Familiarity with automation, PLC basics, HMI systems, jigs, fixtures, tooling development, and process standardization.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance, basic breakdown analysis, and reliability improvement of high precision machinery.
- Understanding of laser physics and optics, including differences between CO2 and fiber laser sources and laser material interaction.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronics systems, including control panels, wiring diagrams, servo drives, safety interlocks, and grounding.
- Awareness of laser safety standards, Class 3B and Class 4 laser protocols, electrical safety norms, and shop floor safety practices.
- Ability to analyze production data, KPIs, yield, rejection, downtime, and productivity metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Working knowledge of ERP or MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar for production and inventory control.
- Strong coordination and cross functional communication skills with design, R and D, quality, procurement, service, and supplier teams.
- Leadership and people management skills to train, guide, mentor, and supervise technicians and operators.
- Strong documentation skills for preparing SOPs, work instructions, control plans, reports, and compliance records.
- Project management skills to handle new product introduction, process improvement initiatives, and production ramp up activities.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies, new machine models, and changing production priorities.
- Customer oriented mindset with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and on time delivery.
