Job Overview
The Mechanical Production Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring efficient and high-quality manufacturing of advanced electric material handling equipment. The position focuses on executing production plans, optimizing processes, and translating engineering designs into reliable, finished products. Working in a fast-paced and innovation-driven environment, the engineer contributes to the manufacturing of Electric Tow Trucks, Electric Forklifts, Electric Trolleys, Electric Cranes, and other electric mobility solutions used across warehouses, manufacturing plants, and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and execute daily production activities to meet output targets for electric material handling equipment.
- Oversee and optimize end-to-end manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining, assembly, and testing of electric tow trucks, forklifts, trolleys, cranes, and related systems.
- Manage shop floor operations, including manpower allocation, workflow management, and resource utilization to ensure smooth production.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve production workflows, SOPs, and work instructions to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time, and minimize waste.
- Design and optimize plant layouts, production lines, jigs, fixtures, and tooling for scalable and ergonomic manufacturing.
- Monitor and improve production efficiency by identifying bottlenecks, reducing downtime, and implementing Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S practices.
- Coordinate with design, R&D, and engineering teams to ensure seamless new product introduction (NPI) and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Collaborate with procurement and vendors to ensure timely availability of quality raw materials and components as per BOM requirements.
- Oversee integration and assembly of electric mobility components including motors, battery systems, controllers, powertrains, and electrical harnesses.
- Ensure proper installation, commissioning, and maintenance of production machinery and equipment, including automation and robotics integration.
- Monitor machine performance and implement preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot production issues related to mechanical systems, welding, assembly, machining, and electric component integration.
- Conduct root cause analysis using tools like 5 Why, 8D, FMEA, and implement CAPA and Poka-Yoke solutions.
- Establish and maintain strict quality control systems, conduct inspections, and ensure adherence to product specifications and standards.
- Perform load testing, calibration, and validation of finished equipment to ensure performance, safety, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards including handling of high-voltage systems and heavy equipment.
- Drive sustainability initiatives by reducing material waste, optimizing energy consumption, and promoting eco-friendly manufacturing practices.
- Monitor and analyze production KPIs such as OEE, yield, cycle time, and productivity for continuous improvement and cost optimization.
- Prepare production reports, technical documentation, process sheets, and management presentations.
- Train, guide, and mentor production staff, technicians, and operators on processes, safety, and equipment handling.
- Support cross-functional teams including after-sales and service for technical troubleshooting and continuous product improvement.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives aligned with operational excellence and smart manufacturing goals.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of Production Planning and Control (PPC) and end-to-end manufacturing operations.
- Expertise in manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, and testing of heavy engineering and electric mobility equipment.
- In-depth understanding of electric mobility systems including electric motors, battery packs, controllers, power electronics, and wiring harness integration.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, structural fabrication, and chassis assemblies.
- Proficiency in process design, workflow optimization, plant layout planning, and production line balancing.
- Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping for continuous improvement.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis using tools like 5 Why, 8D, FMEA, Fishbone, RCA, and Poka-Yoke.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical integration, welding, machining, and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of quality control systems, inspection techniques, SPC, and compliance with ISO, IATF, and safety standards.
- Experience in handling production machinery, equipment selection, commissioning, maintenance, and basic robotics/automation integration.
- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) along with cost optimization techniques.
- Ability to monitor and improve KPIs such as OEE, cycle time, throughput, yield, rejection rate, and cost per unit.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) for production tracking, BOM management, and resource planning.
- Working knowledge of CAD/CAM tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar for tooling, layout, and design review.
- Understanding of materials and processes including steel, alloys, composites, sheet metal, machining, and surface finishing (painting, powder coating).
- Knowledge of jig, fixture, and tooling design for efficient and repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) and cross-functional coordination with design, R&D, quality, and procurement teams.
- Basic understanding of automation, PLCs, robotics, IoT, and Industry 4.0 concepts in smart manufacturing environments.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret production metrics and drive process improvements using Excel or similar tools.
- Knowledge of safety standards, HSE practices, high-voltage safety, and industrial compliance requirements.
- Project management skills including planning, execution, and coordination of multiple production and improvement initiatives.
- Vendor management and supply chain coordination for ensuring timely availability of quality materials and components.
- Strong focus on sustainability including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and eco-friendly manufacturing practices.
- Effective team management, shop floor leadership, and workforce training capabilities.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Minimum 0 to 3 years of experience in Production Manufacturing / Process Engineering Roles. Prior experience in Material Handling Equipment / Heavy Engineering / Automotive / Electric Mobility Industry is preferred. Hands-on experience in fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly of mechanical systems. Experience in Manufacturing / Assembly of Electric Mobility Products such as Electric Forklifts, Tow Trucks, Trolleys, Cranes, or Similar Equipment is an advantage, production planning, shop floor management, and process optimization, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience in handling production machinery, equipment commissioning, and maintenance coordination.
