Job Overview

As an Embedded Hardware Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and optimization of our environmental monitoring devices. You will work on the hardware architecture, sensor integration, and firmware development for our cutting-edge IoT-enabled air quality and environmental sensing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded hardware systems for real-time environmental data acquisition.
  • Define and implement system architecture for air quality, noise, odour, weather, and radiation monitoring devices.
  • Select and implement suitable microcontrollers, sensors, and communication modules (Wi-Fi, LoRa, Cellular, Zigbee, etc.).
  • Create detailed electrical schematics and design multi-layer PCBs using tools like Altium Designer, Eagle, or KiCAD.
  • Ensure signal integrity, thermal management, and manufacturability (DFM) in PCB layouts.
  • Design and optimize power supply circuits and implement power-saving techniques for efficient energy management.
  • Design and optimize antennas for reliable wireless communication in low-power and long-range applications.
  • Perform functional, performance, and stress testing of hardware systems in lab and field environments.
  • Conduct EMI/EMC testing and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Interface and integrate environmental sensors (PM2.5, PM10, CO2, VOCs, ozone, temperature, humidity, noise, radiation) into hardware systems.
  • Validate and troubleshoot communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART.
  • Calibrate sensors and implement procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform data acquisition and signal conditioning from various environmental sensors.
  • Collaborate with firmware/software teams for hardware-software integration and performance optimization.
  • Support board bring-up by verifying power rails, clocks, and peripheral functionality.
  • Provide technical input and support for firmware development for sensor control and data communication.
  • Use test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters for diagnostics and root cause analysis.
  • Develop automated testing scripts in Python to improve testing accuracy and efficiency.
  • Document hardware designs, testing procedures, and diagnostic findings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, R&D, software, and manufacturing.
  • Optimize designs for mass production and cost-efficiency.
  • Work with supply chain teams for component sourcing and inventory planning.
  • Support quality control during manufacturing to ensure products meet reliability and design standards.
  • Assist in certification and compliance processes (e.g., CE, FCC, RoHS).
  • Stay current with trends in embedded systems, sensor technology, and wireless communication.
  • Innovate to enhance product functionality, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain clear, organized documentation for hardware development, calibration, and production.
