AutoCAD Designer – WNIAD08012025

Job Overview
The Company is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented AutoCAD Designer to join our team of Interior Designers and Architects. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for design, excellent technical skills, and the ability to translate concepts into precise technical drawings. You will play a pivotal role in creating accurate blueprints and layouts for high-end residential and commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with architects and interior designers to create layouts, floor plans, and technical drawings.
- Ensure drawings adhere to project specifications, local building codes, and company standards.
- Modify and refine designs to meet client needs and project scope.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to ensure accurate execution of designs.
- Maintain an organized database of project drawings and revisions.
- Conduct site visits to take measurements and assess project feasibility.
- Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and project managers to create layouts, floor plans, and technical drawings.
- Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, local building codes, and safety regulations.
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, material specifications, and joinery details for furniture and fixtures.
- Create and maintain a library of standard templates, blocks, and CAD symbols to streamline the design process.
- Modify and refine designs based on client feedback and project constraints.
- Conduct site visits to gather measurements, verify design feasibility, and assess project progress.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and suppliers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
- Review and resolve design discrepancies and provide technical guidance during the construction phase.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest trends in materials, design software, and construction technologies.
- Maintain an organized database of project drawings, revisions, and as-built records.
- Assist in preparing presentation materials, such as rendered drawings and design boards, for client meetings.
- Work with the interior design team to develop design solutions.
- Research concepts and materials to support the design team on technical issues influencing concept development.
- Work within timely schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks through to final project completion.
- Conduct on-site observations and provide recommendations to help streamline ongoing design projects.
- Prepare and participate in client presentations.
- Select furniture, materials, decor and finishes while keeping within budget.
- Developing initial ideas and acquiring key information about potential projects,
- Discussing requirements in detail with clients (the brief) and setting project schedules.
- Understanding clients' needs and the needs of the people using the building,
- Developing design concepts in consultation with the client and establishing final briefs.
- Considering materials and costs according to set budgets and negotiating project fees.
- Conducting feasibility studies for projects.
- Researching and gathering information and photographs relating to the project.
- Producing sample' or 'mood' boards for presentation to clients.
- Sourcing products, e.g. fittings, furniture, lighting, finishes, decoration and dressing, and providing samples for clients.
- Preparing detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models and schemes, often using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Surveying buildings, working in a team with other designers.
- Supervising work at the design stage and on site.
- Working closely with quantity surveyors to establish costs and work schedules on larger projects, with architects and other design professionals to determine the best use of space, and with manufacturers and contractors.
- Identifying new business and selling services to potential clients.
- Keeping up to date with new developments in the design industry.
- In addition, an interior designer may also sometimes act as a project manager for the client throughout the construction stage. This can involve coordinating the design on site and even managing the construction team.
Key Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and related design software (e.g., SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max).
- Strong understanding of design principles, materials, and construction processes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- High level of technical knowledge, including CAD and model-making skills.
- Good drawing skills, including perspective drawing and spatial awareness.
- Creativity and imagination.
- Communication skills, both written and verbal, to write briefs, promote and explain ideas, and build relationships with clients.
- An awareness of building and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of the wider construction and design industries.
- Project management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, attention to detail.
- Organizational and creative problem-solving skills.
- Good negotiating and management skills.
- Team working, in order to work with a range of other professionals.
- A flexible attitude.
