Quality Control Assistant – WNTQCA10062025

Job Overview
They are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Assistant to support the QC Department in testing, monitoring, and maintaining product quality throughout the production process. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in chemical testing, an understanding of coating formulations, and familiarity with laboratory practices. This role ensures that every batch of product meets defined technical specifications and industry standards before it reaches the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using standard chemical testing methods.
- Conduct physical and chemical tests such as viscosity, pH, specific gravity, solids content, dispersion quality, and colour shade matching.
- Perform incoming raw material inspection (pigments, resins, solvents, additives) by verifying Certificates of Analysis (CoA) and conducting lab tests.
- Collect representative samples of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods for quality analysis.
- Monitor and perform in-process quality checks at various stages (mixing, dispersion, grinding) to ensure batch consistency and quality.
- Conduct detailed tests on finished products, including application properties (flow, leveling, drying time), film properties (adhesion, hardness, gloss), and stability (heat, freeze-thaw).
- Perform precise colour matching using visual and instrumental methods to meet customer standards.
- Visually inspect finished products for appearance, uniformity, and overall quality.
- Approve batches that meet quality standards and initiate quarantine procedures for non-conforming products.
- Accurately document all test results, observations, and maintain QC records, batch sheets, and Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab instruments like spectrophotometers, viscometers, pH meters, rheometers, film applicators, and adhesion testers.
- Prepare and standardize reagents and chemical solutions used in quality testing.
- Ensure adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and all internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, including safe handling and disposal of chemicals.
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies, chemicals, and consumables, ensuring timely availability.
- Report any deviations, non-conforming results, or quality issues to the QC Executive or Manager immediately.
- Assist in identifying root causes of quality problems and contribute to Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with production and R&D teams to resolve quality issues and improve product performance.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
- Communicate test findings and quality concerns clearly to relevant stakeholders.
Key Skills
- Proficient in physical and chemical testing methods (viscosity, pH, density, solids content, particle size, stability, chemical resistance).
- Skilled in both visual and instrumental color matching using tools like spectrophotometers.
- Understanding of coating application techniques and film property testing (adhesion, gloss, flexibility, hardness, drying time).
- Experience in operating, calibrating, and troubleshooting lab instruments (viscometers, rheometers, pH meters, gloss meters, film applicators).
- Ability to record, analyze, and interpret test data accurately to identify deviations or trends.
- Strong skills in maintaining QC records, batch sheets, CoAs, and test reports with accuracy and clarity.
- Familiarity with ISO, BIS, GMP, GLP, SOPs, and customer-specific quality norms.
- Capable of identifying root causes of quality issues and contributing to effective corrective actions.
- Basic understanding of quality monitoring tools and techniques to ensure process consistency.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental protocols, including chemical handling and disposal.
- Ability to manage laboratory consumables and ensure availability of reagents and chemicals.
- Works well with production, R&D, and QA teams to resolve quality concerns and maintain workflow.
- Efficient in managing multiple testing responsibilities within strict timelines.
- Willingness to learn new techniques, adopt changes, and support continuous improvement.
- Clear in verbal and written communication for reporting issues and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and familiarity with laboratory data management systems (e.g., LIMS).
